Planning & Zoning

The Planning Commission reviews proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance, site plans and plat applications, and makes recommendations to the Council regarding the current and future development of Elwood. The Elwood Town General Plan serves as the guiding document used by the Planning Commission when making planning related decisions. 

Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend Planning Commission meetings, which are held on the 1st and the 3rd Tuesdays of each month. Agenda items are due 2 weeks before each meeting. For more information, contact the Planning Commission Secretary, Karolina Munns, via email: [email protected]

Requirements for Placing Items on the Planning Commission Agenda:

Paperwork and plats must be complete, including the necessary application form, payment of applicable fees, and any other required documents.  Any petition which does not include all required paperwork by the deadlines noted above WILL NOT be placed on the Planning Commission agenda.

There is always the possibility that a planning meeting may be changed or canceled.  If this happens, every attempt will be made to notify the public of that decision as far in advance as possible.
